Job Overview Matsenko Auto Repair & Collision is looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Technician with strong electrical and diagnostic skills to join our team. We are looking for someone who can confidently diagnose difficult problems, perform high-quality repairs, and help provide technical direction within the mechanical department. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic issues Troubleshoot wiring, circuits, modules, sensors, communication networks, and CAN-bus related problems Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics using professional scan tools and testing equipment Diagnose check-engine lights, drivability problems, starting/charging systems, and intermittent electrical concerns Perform mechanical repairs including engine, transmission, suspension, steering, cooling, and A/C systems Read and understand wiring diagrams and manufacturer service information Properly document diagnostic findings and recommended repairs Assist other technicians with difficult diagnostic and repair problems Perform quality-control checks when necessary Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area Qualifications Several years of professional automotive repair experience Strong electrical diagnostic ability is required Strong understanding of modern vehicle electronics and computer-controlled systems Ability to use multimeters, scan tools, oscilloscopes, wiring diagrams, and other diagnostic equipment Ability to diagnose problems instead of simply replacing parts Strong mechanical repair skills Reliable, organized, and able to work independently Good communication and leadership skills ASE certifications are preferred but not required Experience with European, luxury, hybrid, or EV vehicles is a plus What We're Looking For We are specifically looking for a high-level diagnostic technician , not just a general parts-replacement mechanic. The right person should be comfortable taking on difficult electrical and drivability problems that other technicians may not be able to diagnose. This is a lead technician position , so we are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can help other technicians when needed, and wants to be an important part of a growing automotive repair operation. Full-time position Monday-Friday Tacoma/Lakewood, WA Compensation is based on experience and diagnostic ability.
