We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Mechanic to join our service team. In this specialized role, your primary responsibility is to hook up, interpret, and resolve complex automotive computer system faults, electrical gremlins, and engine performance failures. You will step in where general service technicians face limits, using advanced software tools to identify hard-to-find issues and map out structural, reliable repair plans.

Key Responsibilities Run Advanced Diagnostics:

Connect computer scanners to read onboard error codes and evaluate performance data.

Trace Electrical Faults:

Isolate wiring shorts, broken circuits, and faulty sensors using digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.

Troubleshoot Driveability Issues:

Diagnose engine misfires, rough idles, fuel delivery failures, and emissions issues.

Flash System Software:

Install factory firmware updates and calibrate sensitive modules after hardware changes.

Execute Technical Repairs:

Fix or overhaul complicated engine components, transmissions, and safety systems.

Document and Verify:

Log clear technical findings, note repair timelines, and conduct strict post-repair test drives.

Advise Customers:

Explain complex failure root-causes in plain language to service advisors and vehicle owners.

Required Skills and Qualifications Equipment Mastery:

Direct experience using OEM or aftermarket scanners (Snap-on, Bosch, Autel).

Technical Reading:

Ability to read complicated electrical schematics and technical factory manuals.

Analytical Problem Solving:

Strong critical thinking skills to trace complex symptoms back to single-source faults.

Manual Precision:

Fine dexterity for working with intricate wiring harnesses and tight engine components.

Clear Communication:

Ability to break down technical diagnostic reports for non-technical team members. Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated experience in an automotive service or diagnostic environment. Prefer but NOT required Valid ASE Certifications (specifically L1 Advanced Engine Performance or A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems). Active, clean driver's license to perform vehicle test drives. Physical Demands & Work Environment Ability to work standing up on shop floors for up to 8 hours a day. Capability to lift components weighing up to 50 lbs independently. Comfortable working around loud machinery, engine fumes, and safely handling chemical fluids.

Pay:

$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
