40.0 Responsibilities Disassemble, repair, and install mechanical equipment throughout a fuel preparation facility Inspect, repair, and overhaul conveyor belts, sizing screens, hammermill feeders, hammermills, and related auxiliary equipment Align rotating equipment shafts using reverse indication and/or laser alignment tools Work from blueprints, patterns, or design drawings to lay out and set up jobs Fabricate components from iron, bronze, various steel grades/alloys, and synthetic materials (rubber, nylon, Teflon) Use micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools Design and build custom tools and fixtures to support maintenance work Design and construct facility modifications, including work platforms, landings, and piping Scrape and fit bearings on rotating machinery Rig and direct crane operations for lifting/moving heavy equipment Erect scaffolding (frame-and-tube and clamp styles) Operate oxyacetylene torches for heating, cutting, bending, and burning metal Perform SMAW welding Cut metal using plasma arc and auto-track mounted cutting torches Operate and maintain hand and power tools Cut, thread, bend, and connect pipe; remove/rebuild/replace valves, fittings, gaskets, and piping Perform rough carpentry Operate mobile equipment including forklifts, manlifts, cranes, track hoes, and skid-steers Maintain mobile equipment Perform general plant housekeeping, surface prep (cleaning, scraping, chipping, grinding) for painting/welding, and equipment painting Pull cable and wire Initiate and complete maintenance work orders Maintain tool inventory in proper working order Handle and store hazardous substances; label containers; monitor hazardous waste storage areas; maintain waste oil storage Install, splice, and repair conveyor belts and belt lines Step into fuel prep operations as needed Perform other duties as assigned Requirements High school diploma plus technical or apprenticeship training and journeyman-level experience 3 years of journeyman-level experience, or 5 years if trained on-the-job rather than through an apprenticeship MSHA Part 48 New Miner 24-hour training required Working knowledge of mechanical maintenance methods and practices in a heavy industrial/processing environment Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design drawings, patterns, and job plans Heavy physical strength demand Work environment approximately 10% indoor / 90% outdoor; weekend, holiday, and emergency call-out availability required System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
