Birmingham, AL Job Description As a Structures Technician, you will be responsible for performing heavy depot‑level aircraft structural maintenance, repairs, and modifications. You will inspect, evaluate, and repair aircraft structural components using approved technical data, fabricate and install structural repair parts, and ensure all work maintains original aircraft strength, weight, and contour. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair aircraft structural damage using approved technical data, ensuring structural integrity, strength, and compliance with specifications. Perform heavy depot-level structural repairs and modifications, including skin, bulkhead, corrosion, and component repairs using advanced sheet metal and metalworking techniques. Fabricate and install structural repair components by forming, cutting, drilling, and fastening parts, including close-tolerance, high‑strength fasteners, jigs, and fixtures. Conduct post-repair inspections and system checks, including flight control rigging, weight and balance, and verification of structural serviceability. Document and close out maintenance actions accurately within automated maintenance systems in accordance with QA, regulatory, and environmental requirements. Maintain a safe and compliant work environment, including tool control, FOD prevention, hazardous material handling, and proper use of support equipment. Essential Skills Proficiency in airframe and aircraft sheet metal repair. Experience in heavy depot level repairs or modifications. Ability to perform skin repairs, skin patches, and skin changes. Knowledge of bulkhead repairs and depot-level maintenance. Expertise in corrosion control and MRO procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Level III:
8-12 years performing depot level/MRO level structural repairs or modifications.
Level II:
5-8 years performing depot level/MRO level structural repairs or modifications. Fighter jet experience preferred but not required. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75316.00 - $79227.00/yr. Benefits will be provided Benefits will include medical insurance Benefits will include dental insurance Benefits will include paid holidays (11 paid holidays) Benefits will include (2 weeks of vacation time after 1 year of service) Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Birmingham,AL.
