Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a Maintenance Planner who can ensure the reliability, safety, and operational readiness of transit vehicles, facilities, and related infrastructure by developing and coordinating comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans. This position works closely with Maintenance leadership to schedule and prioritize maintenance activities, ensuring that all required parts, tools, labor, and resources are available in advance. By leveraging maintenance management systems and established maintenance standards, the Maintenance Planner helps maintain assets in a state of good repair, minimizes service disruptions, and supports the overall efficiency of transit operations. Responsibilities Develop, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work orders to ensure timely servicing of transit vehicles and facilities Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisors to ensure proper allocation of labor, tools, equipment, and parts required for scheduled maintenance activities Monitor maintenance schedules and adjust workflows as needed to address operational priorities, service interruptions, or emergent repair needs Track maintenance activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring work orders are properly created, updated, and closed Collaborate with Procurement and Inventory staff to ensure timely availability of parts, materials, and vendor services required to support maintenance operations Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset histories, and inventory data within the maintenance management system Monitor spare parts inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to maintain operational readiness Support warranty tracking, vendor coordination, and parts sourcing activities Assist Maintenance leadership in implementing preventive maintenance programs and planning strategies Provide administrative support for maintenance planning, scheduling, and operational coordination Track and report key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs), including asset reliability, maintenance compliance, and work order completion rates Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records, logs, and documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements Generate maintenance reports and provide data analysis to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives Ensure all maintenance documentation complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards Support audits and internal reviews by maintaining organized and accessible maintenance records Requirements Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Effective problem-solving and analytical abilities Ability to coordinate cross-functional workflows and collaborate with multiple departments Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment Knowledge of maintenance operations, fleet management principles, and preventive maintenance practices Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence
Education Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree with 3-5 years experience in a related field 2-4 years of experience in fleet maintenance, maintenance planning, or related operational environment Experience working with maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar tracking systems Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, or related field Experience in public transit, municipal fleet, or heavy equipment maintenance environment Experience using AVAIL Technologies or similar maintenance systemsJob Type:
