We are seeking a hands-on technician to support both manufacturing and test of advanced avionics and electro-optical hardware in a fast-paced aerospace environment. Position Summary The Avionics Manufacturing and Test Technician supports assembly, integration, rework, troubleshooting, and test of avionics and electronics hardware. This role spans production and test operations, including soldering, cable and harness fabrication, polymerics, optics-related integration, benchtop functional testing, and environmental test execution. The technician will support development, qualification, and production hardware through activities such as random vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC, radiation, optical testing, and camera focusing. Responsibilities Perform hands-on avionics and electronics assembly, integration, rework, and repair, including soldering, cable and harness fabrication, connector termination, polymerics, bonding, staking, and conformal coating Build, inspect, modify, and repair avionics subassemblies, test articles, fixtures, and support hardware to drawings, specifications, work instructions, and workmanship standards Integrate avionics, cameras, optics, and electromechanical assemblies, including precision and alignment-sensitive work Execute benchtop functional testing using standard lab equipment such as power supplies, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, source measure units, logic analyzers, and data acquisition systems Set up, support, and execute qualification and environmental testing, including random vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC, radiation, and optical testing Install and verify instrumentation and sensors including accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs, and other monitoring hardware Support optical and camera-related activities including focusing, alignment support, image quality checks, and characterization setup Perform pre-test and post-test inspections, document discrepancies, and record test data, run logs, and hardware status Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions through rework, repair, maintenance, or collaboration with engineering and quality teams Assist with development of test setups, fixtures, harnessing, procedures, manufacturing documentation, and internal process documentation Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles, qualification schedules, and repeatable build and test flow Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency Support lab readiness, organization, calibration coordination, and housekeeping Contribute to AS9100-aligned process discipline, including traceability, configuration control, and quality workmanship Adhere to ESD and safety standards Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures Work effectively in a team environment with multiple and rapidly changing priorities Qualifications Minimum of 2+ years of technician experience in aerospace, avionics, electronics manufacturing, assembly, integration and test, or a related field Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, rework, and troubleshooting Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, and digital documentation tools Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder) Preferred Qualifications Experience with soldering, cable and wire harness fabrication, connector assembly, polymerics, and precision electromechanical integration Experience supporting benchtop electrical checkout, functional verification, environmental testing, or qualification testing Experience with common lab and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, programmable power supplies, source measure units, logic analyzers, and data acquisition systems Experience setting up test articles, fixtures, harnessing, instrumentation, sensors, and support hardware Experience with vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC, shock, radiation, optical, or camera-related testing Experience with optical or camera systems, including focusing, alignment support, image quality verification, or handling sensitive optical hardware Ability to perform and document common electrical measurements and general hardware health checks Ability to identify, report, and assist in troubleshooting anomalies, nonconformances, and test failures Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures Strong troubleshooting, manual dexterity, and attention to detail with small and sensitive hardware Experience with aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability hardware Experience with development, qualification, acceptance, or production test campaigns Familiarity with AS9100-aligned processes, traceability, configuration control, cleanliness controls, FOD prevention, and ESD-safe handling Current or prior certification in one or more of the following:NASA-STD-8739.3
