Job Description

WHO WE ARE
Mammoth Freighters just received FAA certification for the 777-200LRMF — one of the most productive, fuel-efficient long-range freighters in the world. We're a Boeing 777 Licensee converting passenger aircraft into freighters. This isn't concept work. It's a certified, active program, and we're growing the team responsible for keeping it moving.
JOB OVERVIEW
As an Airframe Structural Repair Engineer, you'll be the technical bridge between Mammoth's engineering organization and the operators flying Mammoth-converted 777 freighters. You'll resolve in-service structural issues unique to converted aircraft, — OEM Fuselage and Wing, main-deck cargo door structure, upper-deck floor reinforcements, cutout doublers, and cargo-handling system interfaces — while ensuring every disposition stays consistent with the aircraft's Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) basis and FAA certification requirements. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who wants to stay close to both the airplane and the customer, translating conversion engineering intent into real-world repair and operational guidance. Up to 25% travel, including conversion sites and customer/operator locations required. The Airframe Structural Repair Engineer reports directly to the Director of Stress Engineering.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Serve as primary technical point of contact for cargo operators, lessors, and MRO facilities regarding structural issues on Mammoth-converted 777 freighters. Disposition OEM and STC structural repairs and damage findings involving the fuselage, wing, bulkheads, surround structure and main deck cargo door, ensuring consistent with the certification basis. Analyze reported structural damage or discrepancies for safety-of-flight implications; issue No Technical Objection (NTO) determinations for ferry or return-to-service flights as needed. Develop temporary and permanent repair solutions where damage falls outside the OEM and STC SRM guidance while coordinating with the stress and structures team on substantiation. Prepare repair structural substantiation reports (SSR) for DER approval. Support root-cause investigations for structural findings that could affect the broader converted fleet, feeding into fleet campaigns, Service Bulletins, or ICA (Instructions for Continued Airworthiness) updates. Apply working knowledge of FAR Part 25 damage tolerance requirements (AC 25.571) and P2F-specific STC repair documentation. Coordinate with Mammoth's stress, DER, and certification teams on repairs or modifications requiring FAA disposition or approval. Maintain compliance across suppliers, conversion line partners, and field reps with Mammoth engineering standards. Draft technical correspondence and disposition documentation for operators supporting continued safe operation of converted aircraft. Provide field support at conversion sites or customer locations for complex or time-sensitive structural findings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or closely related technical field). 3+ years of experience with aircraft structures, materials, design criteria, and repair/release processes — widebody experience strongly preferred (777) 3+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance, MRO, or in-service structural support. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly explain technical findings to both FAA representatives and customer operators. Willingness to travel to conversion sites and operator locations (up to 25%).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Direct experience with P2F (passenger-to-freighter) conversion programs. Familiarity with FAA certification coordination and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) processes. Experience authoring or approving structural dispositions, repair schemes, or engineering deviations. Working knowledge of structural analysis tools and methods (NASTRAN, ANSYS, or classical hand methods such as Bruhn/Niu/ESDU) sufficient to interpret stress analysis inputs. Experience with cargo door structure, main-deck reinforcement, or fuselage cutout design on widebody freighter conversions. Experience operating within an
AS9100/ISO 9001
quality environment.
