Avionics Technician II
Job Description:
Purpose The Avionics Technician II is responsible for performing advanced installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of avionics systems. This role requires a higher level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently on complex avionics systems while supporting aircraft completions, modifications, and maintenance activities. The technician ensures all work meets FAA regulations, OEM specifications, and company quality standards. Essential Job Functions Perform installation, routing, termination, and testing of avionics wiring and systems on large cabin aircraft. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex avionics systems including communication, navigation, IFEC, and cabin management systems. Read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings. Perform system testing, fault isolation, and functional checks to ensure proper operation. Remove, repair, and reinstall avionics components such as radios, displays, antennas, and control units. Support aircraft modifications, upgrades, and STC installations. Work independently or with minimal supervision to complete assigned avionics tasks. Document all work performed in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures. Coordinate with quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues. Ensure proper tool control, FOD prevention, and adherence to safety standards. Assist in mentoring and guiding junior technicians as needed. Support aircraft return-to-service processes and final system validations. Minimum Qualifications or Experience High school diploma or GED required. 5+ years of experience in avionics maintenance, installation, or modification. Strong understanding of aircraft avionics systems and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to read and interpret complex technical documentation and schematics. Experience working in aircraft maintenance, completions, or MRO environments. Preferred Qualifications or Experience Experience working on aircraft (Gulfstream, Boeing, Airbus). Experience with advanced avionics systems including IFEC, connectivity, and cabin management systems. FAA Airframe license preferred. Familiarity with FAA regulations and Part 145 repair station environments. Experience with maintenance tracking systems and documentation processes. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and mentorship to Avionics Technician I personnel. Knowledge, Skills, and Other Attributes Strong technical knowledge of avionics systems and aircraft electrical systems. Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently and manage complex tasks. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Travel Travel may be required to support off-site maintenance, modifications, or aircraft recovery operations. Ability to lift tools and equipment up to 50 pounds. Must follow OSHA safety standards and company policies, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). May require overtime or flexible hours to support maintenance schedules.
