PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation and aerospace industry to hire an experienced Structures Mechanic in San Antonio, TX. As a Structures Mechanic, youll play a vital role in maintaining, modifying, and repairing critical aircraft structures. Your expertise will help ensure the structural integrity, safety, and operational performance of aircraft supporting important missions around the globe.
Working alongside a highly skilled team of aviation professionals, youll contribute to complex structural modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities that keep aircraft mission-ready and performing at their best.
What Youll Do
In this role, you will:
Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical structural and fracture-critical aircraft components
Locate blind holes and prepare existing structures for installation of new structural assemblies
Perform sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation activities in accordance with approved repair procedures
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, specifications, and retrofit requirements
Execute structural repairs and modifications using specialized tooling, fixtures, and assemblies
Troubleshoot and support aircraft mechanical component repairs and replacements
Perform sheet metal fabrication, structural modifications, and repairs on aircraft structures
Utilize precision tools and equipment, including:
Rivet guns
Countersink cages
Hole finders
Torque wrenches
Micrometers
Dial indicators
Sheet metal brakes and shears
Access aircraft maintenance data systems and initiate parts and discrepancy requests
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout requirements, and hazardous energy controls
Adhere to site tool control and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention procedures
Collaborate with mechanics, avionics technicians, and electronics teams to meet program schedules and performance goals
Maintain required certifications, licenses, and training qualifications
Required Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience working with non-porous metals, including aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel
Minimum 4 years of experience reading and working from:
Schematics
Engineering specifications
Assembly drawings
Standard operating procedures
Minimum 4 years of experience using aircraft structures tools, including:
Drill motors (45° and 90°)
Pancake adapters
Rivet guns
Countersink cages
Hole-finding equipment
Minimum 4 years of experience performing heavy structures work, including locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening aircraft structures such as:
Doublers
Stringers
Webs
Seat tracks
Ability to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
Ability to pass required training assessments and comply with all site safety and tool control procedures
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing aircraft heavy maintenance or depot-level maintenance
Experience supporting military aircraft programs
Experience working with titanium aircraft structures
Forklift operation experience
Mobile crane operation experience
Experience operating powered elevating work platforms and aerial lifts
Strong understanding of aircraft structural repair methods and industry best practices
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
Ascend and descend ladders and elevated work platforms
Work in confined spaces
Lift and move loads of approximately 35 pounds, with occasional team lifts exceeding 50 pounds
Stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl, and reach overhead for extended periods
Work safely around aircraft, machinery, and elevated structures
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Pass visual acuity and color perception evaluations
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures
Work in environments with frequent noise exposure

Pay Details:
$45.18 per hour
