This position combines concentrated seasonal installation work with ongoing part-time field maintenance and operations support.
Schedule at a glance:
The initial assignment is expected to include approximately six consecutive weeks of full-time installation work during the September-November 2026 installation window. Additional installation campaigns are anticipated in spring and fall 2027. Between installation periods, hours will be lower and variable, with work focused on scheduled maintenance, inspections, service calls, and operations support. This is not a consistently full-time, year-round position. Requirements Based in St. Paul or nearby, with reliable transportation to project sites across the Twin Cities. Availability for the full initial six-week installation period. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate closely with remote support staff. Strong attention to detail, reliability, organization, patience, and sound judgment in the field. Ability to follow safety procedures, site plans, installation instructions, and quality-control checklists. Ability to lift and move bulky components weighing approximately 50 pounds and to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Comfort using basic hand and power tools, including a cordless drill, electric ratchet, level, hammer, and related equipment. A smartphone capable of taking clear photos and accessing web-based service and reporting tools. A reliable location to receive replacement parts and occasional equipment shipments. Some flexibility in scheduling for infrequent urgent service calls. Preferred Experience Mechanical assembly, facilities maintenance, construction, equipment installation, or independent field-service work. Basic low-voltage electrical troubleshooting, including experience using a multimeter. Comfort troubleshooting computers, mobile devices, networking equipment, or electronic access-control systems. Experience representing a company while working with customers, public-agency staff, contractors, or members of the public. An interest in bikes, public transit, and practical transportation solutions. Installation Responsibilities Arrive reliably at scheduled installation locations and work as part of a coordinated installation team. Unload, stage, assemble, and align electronic bike lockers and secure bike parking components. Follow site-specific layouts and installation plans carefully. Activate and test locker electronics and other system components with support from BikeLink staff. Complete quality-control checks, photographs, and closeout documentation for each site. Ongoing Maintenance & Operations Responsibilities Coordinate regularly with BikeLink's Service Manager and technical support team. Monitor assigned problem reports and schedule efficient site visits during agreed service windows. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, hardware replacement, software or firmware updates, and minor repairs. Support operational tasks such as signage updates, basic cleaning, system checks, parts management, and coordination on access or abandoned-property issues. Respond to infrequent urgent service needs, generally within 24 hours when requested and available. Document work performed, parts used, site conditions, and unresolved issues promptly in BikeLink's online service system. Conduct rigorous quality-control checks and provide practical feedback to improve the system. Compensation This is an hourly, variable-schedule position. The anticipated base compensation range is $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience. Different rates may apply to installation work when required by project-specific prevailing-wage rules. Travel between local work sites and other reimbursable expenses will be handled in accordance with company policy.
