Job Description

Overview Job Summary:
The Floor Technician is responsible for stripping, waxing, speed buffing, extraction of carpets, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping of all areas. Heavy lifting of up to 60lbs, handling of soiled trash and hazardous materials will be required. Chemicals are used heavily within this job. Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital's mission, vision and values. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Follows directions and performs work according to department standards. Demonstrates proper floor scrubbing techniques including proper pad selection, chemicals, baseboard cleaning and floor finish applications. Demonstrates proper carpet extraction procedures, including vacuuming and bonnet buffing. Moves furniture and other items as required. Removes trash, soiled linen and medical waste from soiled utility room and transports to collection areas following proper infection control procedures. Maintains equipment, keeping it clean, operational and secure. Works with nursing staff in assigned area to ensure efficient patient care. Uses proper body mechanics for task that require pushing, lifting and bending. Assist with the orientation of new employees. 10. Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
Reading, writing and effective communication skills are required. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to work in a team structured fast paced environment.
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred not required
Experience:
Previous floor care desired but not necessary. Mechanical skills are desired.
