This position involves physical outdoor work, supporting equipment operators, and following jobsite safety procedures. Responsibilities Assist with installing, connecting, and backfilling gas, sewer, and water lines under qualified supervision. Prepare trenches, place bedding material, and assist with setting pipe to the required line and grade. Help install valves, fittings, meters, manholes, cleanouts, and other utility components. Load, unload, move, and organize pipe, tools, and construction materials. Use hand tools, power tools, and compaction equipment as trained and authorized. Assist with utility testing, inspections, and site cleanup. Work around existing utilities carefully and report damage, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately. Follow excavation, trench protection, and personal protective equipment requirements. Communicate with crew members, equipment operators, and supervisors to keep work moving safely and efficiently. Qualifications Experience in underground utilities, site work, or construction preferred; willing to train the right candidate. Ability to follow directions and work as part of a crew. Basic familiarity with construction tools and safe work practices. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to assigned jobsites. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and work overtime as needed. Relevant training or qualifications may be required for assigned gas utility work. Physical Requirements Ability to perform physically demanding work, including digging, lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Ability to move across uneven ground and work safely around construction equipment. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment as needed.
