PVCC is seeking a full-time Maintenance Ops Technician who performs event setup support, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to enable proper operation of buildings, utilities, equipment, and facilities. This is a customer-service oriented position and requires timely and courteous service.
Completes work orders and requests:
painting, drywall repair, plumbing including carpentry and equipment and furniture repairs. This Maintenance Ops Technician is also responsible for setting up equipment/furniture for all events. Additional Information

The hiring process will include a second interview.
Essential Functions
40% Event setup, support and breakdown at the direction of the event coordinator. Sets up equipment, furniture layouts, banners, tents, and event materials. Events sometimes occur outside of normal business hours and on weekends. Requires use of ladders and aerial lifts (on the job training provided.)
25% Receives daily work orders through the department's electronic work order system and makes appropriate entries, changing work order statuses as projects progress. Maintains and tracks materials to successfully perform assigned tasks. Responds to work order requests and/or emergency calls; ads to applicable policies and procedures; keeps assigned tools and/or equipment in clean and safe working conditions. 25% Monitors, maintains and performs minor repairs for mechanical, carpentry, plumbing. Performs preventative maintenance on cooling, water, heat, air, drainage and other infrastructure systems; performs minor repairs and remodeling. 10% May support Special Projects as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively at the level required to successfully perform the job duties, and one (1) year of building maintenance experience or other related experience consistent with the duties described. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver License (Class D)
Desired Qualifications
Three (3) years experience in the facilities, maintenance, repair or related field
Two (2) years experience in facilities working in a commercial setting or educational setting
Two (2) years experience with event set up, facilitation and breakdown
One (1) year experience in General Maintenance Repair
One (1) year experience in Custodial Services
One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving: maricopa/about/apply#mvd%C2%A0
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas May require work off site or in a remote status. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
Schedules may consist of shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, or otherwise non-standard work schedules and may involve "on-call" status and/or called in to work with short notice.
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments with frequent exposure to a variety of weather conditions, for short or long durations, including rain, wind, dust, cold temperatures and extreme desert heat. Work may include moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, fumes, fuels, odors, poor ventilation, gasses, blood or other body fluids). Some indoor work environments may not be air conditioned. Work may involve frequent exposure to loud noise associated with tools or mechanical work and require the use of hand and power tools. Some work may be performed in an office/computer workstation and require the use of a computer and keyboard for training, to check emails, and/or communicate with coworkers and supervision. This classification may require that an incumbent be on their feet, standing or walking while performing duties, for the majority, if not all, of a work shift. Within the first six months of employment must obtain job related OSHA training
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
