Position Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping maintain the overall condition, safety, appearance, and functionality of the hotel. This role supports the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department through preventative maintenance, guest room repairs, troubleshooting building systems, and responding to guest and operational maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner. This role reports to the Chief Engineer. The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, detail-oriented, safety conscious, and able to work independently while supporting a fast-paced hotel environment. Essential Job Functions Property & Preventative Maintenance Perform preventative maintenance assignments on guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel equipment. Complete work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner. Repair and maintain drywall, paint, ceilings, doors, flooring, furniture, fixtures, and other building components. Assist with guest room preventative maintenance (PMs) as scheduled. Perform minor plumbing repairs including sinks, toilets, drains, pipe fittings, and related fixtures. Perform minor electrical repairs including lighting, switches, outlets, televisions, and HVAC controls. Assist in maintaining HVAC, mechanical, and other hotel operating systems. Repair or replace damaged equipment and materials as needed. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, PM records, and work order documentation. Guest & Team Support Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and service calls. Communicate effectively with Front Desk, Housekeeping, and other departments regarding room status and maintenance needs. Support hotel operations, events, and group setups as needed. Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with guests, vendors, and team members. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines. Immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, accidents, or damaged equipment. Properly use tools, ladders, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow all hotel policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook. Maintain cleanliness and organization of engineering work areas, storage rooms, and tools. Follow all safety procedures regarding the handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials in accordance with company policy, OSHA standards, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Operational Expectations Answer radio calls and provide timely follow-up communication on assigned tasks. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Be flexible with scheduling based on hotel business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management. Qualifications & Requirements 1 - 2 years of current high-rise building maintenance experience with engineering experience at a 200+ room Hotel/Resort preferred Hospitality or Marriott brand experience is a plus. Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and HVAC systems preferred. Experience with preventative maintenance programs preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Must be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with guests and team members in both verbal and written communications. Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality when appropriate. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push or pull equipment up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to work safely around cleaning chemicals, paint, dust, odors, and maintenance-related materials. Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift. Ability to safely operate ladders, hand tools, and power tools. Must be able to walk for long periods of time. Must be able to sit, walk, bend and stoop throughout day. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions. Frequent use of hands for reaching, etc. Schedule Full-time Flexible availability required Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on operational needs.
