The foundation of our business is our galvanized, brite and reinforcing wire, though we also produce an assortment of specialty wires to fit almost any need. We currently seek a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Irwindale, California. Maintenance Mechanic Duties and Objectives Completes building, re-building, repair, overhaul, installation and/or removal of new or used, precision or semi-precision machinery and equipment. Machining and fitting to close tolerances with speed and accuracy. Cooperates with machine operators and skilled tradesmen in job duties. Tools and Equipment All types of machine tools, hand tools, instruments, rigs and fixtures common to maintenance trade, including electrical tools, gas and electrical welding equipment, and plumber and pip-fitter equipment. Employees in the maintenance department are expected to supply their own basic tool kit and will receive an annual tool allowance. Materials Works on a variety of machines and equipment in and around plant. Works around several lubricants and chemicals throughout the plant. Physical Requirements Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, twist, bend, and squat for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day. Must be able to lift/carry 100 lbs. several times per day with assistance. Basic Activities Works on repairs and constructs new machines and other shop equipment. Diagnoses trouble with machines in plant and makes new parts and reassembles them. Reads and interprets blueprints/sketches and creates sketches for new parts. Operates machine tools, welding equipment and plumbing tools. Maintains required housekeeping of work area and observes all safety rules. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned. Experience and Qualifications Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a maintenance mechanic role. Maintenance mechanic experience in an industrial manufacturing environment a major plus. Strong background in troubleshooting and repairing motors and gearboxes. Demonstrable competence working with power tools, presses and other industrial equipment. Experience as a welder a plus. Certifications desirable, but not required.
