Job Description

Borba Property Group is seeking a dependable, skilled Maintenance Technician with strong handyman experience and a can-do attitude. About the Position As a Maintenance Technician, you will play an important role in maintaining our properties and ensuring our residents receive timely, professional service. You will respond to and complete maintenance work orders at multiple properties throughout the Long Beach area . This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and is ideal for someone who is hands-on, organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently while being part of a supportive team. What You'll Do Complete daily maintenance work orders in accordance with Borba Property Group standards. Troubleshoot maintenance issues, determine appropriate solutions, and obtain the necessary materials and supplies. Perform general maintenance and repairs, including electrical, carpentry, drywall, and other handyman-related tasks. Use AppFolio to review, update, and complete work orders. Document work performed by adding detailed notes, uploading photos, and recording completion times in AppFolio. Travel between properties throughout the Long Beach area to complete maintenance requests efficiently and professionally. Communicate professionally with residents, property managers, and team members. Recognize when an issue requires additional support and escalate appropriately. Respond to emergency and on-call maintenance needs as required. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has strong hands-on maintenance experience and the ability to diagnose problems, determine solutions, and complete repairs efficiently. Knowledge & Skills Electrical systems, components, equipment, and basic regulations Carpentry materials, installation, and repair techniques Drywall repair and patching General handyman and property maintenance Workplace and equipment safety practices Basic computer and technology skills Familiarity with AppFolio and Microsoft Office is a plus Strong organization and attention to detail Excellent time management and problem-solving skills You Should Be Able To Work independently with minimal supervision Use hand and power tools safely and effectively Communicate clearly and professionally Remain patient and professional when handling challenging situations Exercise sound judgment and know when to ask for assistance Prioritize multiple work orders and manage time effectively Take initiative and demonstrate a proactive, self-starter attitude Work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team environment Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent 4+ years of maintenance, handyman, or related experience Leadership or training experience is a plus Additional Requirements Valid California Driver's License Reliable transportation to travel between properties throughout the Long Beach area Mileage reimbursement provided for approved work-related travel Availability to participate in emergency on-call coverage Ability to perform physical maintenance work, including: Climbing ladders Bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.
