N/A SUMMARY
Maintain building in a clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, walls, restrooms, and elevators (if applicable). Duties includes performing routine maintenance activities, cleaning and removing trash from interior and exterior of building, notifying management of any repairs needed. Ensure that building is maintained in compliance with Health & Safety Code requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and polishing. Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, door handles, and commonly touched areas using the appropriate cleaning solutions and tools. Make general repairs Ensure all areas of building, including perimeter, are clean and well maintained at all times. Follow directions and procedures when using power equipment and/or chemicals, in order to prevent damage to floors, fixtures, and equipment. Move heavy equipment, furniture, and supplies either manually or by hand truck. Perform monthly inspections on all fire extinguishers. Keep inventory of and request janitorial/maintenance supplies when needed. Ensure garbage is ready for pickup on designated pickup dates, and that receptacles are clean and well maintained. Notify management concerning the need for major repairs, maintenance, or additions to building operating systems. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facility for events and meetings. Conduct regular safety rounds and cleaning throughout the day. Ensure pest control maintenance on a monthly basis, and more often if necessary. Provide leadership to staff and residents as it relates to cleanliness and safety of the facility. Drive agency or personal vehicles required to perform task or to travel to assigned work locations. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Good organization, interpersonal and time management skills. Must have the ability to work independently and request guidance when needed. Must have the ability to prioritize assignments and follow up on pending assignments to ensure completion. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Must have 2 years of general maintenance/cleaning experience including basic painting skills. Must believe in the capacity of people to improve their lives in the stressful environment of a homeless shelter.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
English, second language a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic
REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to utilize good judgement, think logically, and make sound decisions.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer knowledge and the willingness to learn.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid CA Driver's License and insurance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be in good physical health and have the ability to complete tasks such as building maintenance, lifting up to S0lbs and driving on a daily basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job assignment requires a flexible work environment, which includes working off site at other agency locations as well as conducting off site agency shopping and donations pickup.
