Opus 1 Music Studio

Facilities Technician / Custodian

Job Description

Opus 1 Music Studio is a growing music school serving hundreds of families across three locations (about 10,000 sq ft total). We're hiring one dependable person to own the cleanliness and day-to-day upkeep of our sites — replacing an outside janitorial service with someone who takes real pride in the spaces our students learn in.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Clean one location per day on a rotating route: classrooms, lobbies, restrooms, floors, glass, trash, and high-touch surfaces
  • Deep-clean tasks on a weekly/monthly schedule (carpets, baseboards, vents, waiting areas)
  • Stock and track supplies (restroom, cleaning, breakroom) and reorder before we run out
  • Light maintenance and fixes: swap bulbs and filters, tighten hinges and handles, patch and touch up paint, hang shelves/signage, assemble furniture, clear minor drain clogs
  • Spot problems early and flag anything needing a licensed pro (HVAC, plumbing, electrical); meet vendors on site when needed
  • Set up/reset rooms occasionally for recitals and events
SCHEDULE
About 30 hours/week on average — 5 days, about 6 hours/day, one location per day:
  • 4 weekdays, flexible start time, finishing before 3pm (before students arrive)
  • 1 weekend day — your choice of Saturday or Sunday, starting after 4:30pm Additional hours occasionally available as needed, always mutually agreed and paid on top.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 2+ years in janitorial, custodial, facilities, building maintenance, or similar
  • Comfortable with basic hand tools and minor repairs
  • Self-directed — you'll manage your own route and checklist across three sites
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, be on your feet most of the shift, and use a step ladder
  • English sufficient for notes/texts with our team; you'll coordinate mostly by phone/text
PAY & BENEFITS
  • $45,000
  • 50,000/year salary, depending on experience (salaried non-exempt; additional agreed hours paid on top)
  • Health insurance
  • 10 days paid vacation + 6 paid holidays + paid sick leave
  • Stable, flexible schedule you largely set yourself
  • Small friendly team, and work that's visibly appreciated by hundreds of families every week
TO APPLY
Submit your resume, or a short description of your work history. We'd love to hear about a building or facility you kept running.
Please note:
this posting is for individual applicants only. We are not looking to hire a janitorial or facilities company, and we ask staffing agencies and service providers not to contact us.
Pay:
$45,000.00

00 per year
Benefits:
