Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs manufacturing equipment to support production efficiency and minimize downtime in a high-speed manufacturing environment. This role performs scheduled preventive maintenance, responds promptly to equipment issues, completes work orders within established timelines, and upholds operational and safety standards to ensure reliable, compliant, and safe equipment performance. Responsibilities Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure reliable operation. Troubleshoot, repair, and retrofit machines to reduce downtime and help meet production goals. Complete preventive maintenance tasks and assigned work orders within established timelines using defined procedures. Respond quickly to production requests for equipment support and resolve issues to keep lines running. Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work performed, repairs made, and parts usage. Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and support the implementation of corrective actions. Ensure all equipment calibrations meet compliance and quality requirements. Follow OSHA regulations, safety policies, and proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures at all times. Promote a safe working environment and comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. Collaborate closely with production, facilities, and maintenance team members to coordinate repairs and improvements. Support customer delivery and quality commitments through consistent equipment reliability and performance. Essential Skills At least 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience working on motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and pumps. Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical equipment issues. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics accurately. Ability to perform electrical testing using volt meters safely and correctly. Experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment. Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems. Experience with industrial repair practices, including mechanical adjustments and component replacement. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with welding and soldering is a plus. Experience working on PLCs is a plus. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Ability to retrofit and upgrade existing machinery to improve reliability. Comfort working around big, loud industrial machines in a fast-paced environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in an industrial manufacturing facility with large, loud machinery operating in a high-speed production environment. The facility is open air, so temperatures can be hot or cold depending on the weather. The role works on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities on some weekends depending on workload. You will regularly use tools and equipment such as volt meters and other maintenance instruments while working in proximity to conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Marcos, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
