San Martin, CA Apply Job Description:
The Maintenance Mechanic supports the maintenance, repair, and reliable operation of winery equipment in the cellar and bottling plant. This equipment includes hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, gearboxes, pumps, and high-speed manufacturing and packaging machinery. In this role, the Maintenance Mechanic uses diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot issues and complete repairs efficiently and safely. Seeking applicants with a minimum of 4+ years' experience.
Essential Duties:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot wiring, control systems, and lighting systems.
  • Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues using a variety of testing devices.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
  • Observe and test machinery and equipment to confirm the effectiveness of repairs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work productively and contribute as a cooperative team member.
  • Must be able to read and interpret pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • General mathematical skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four years of related maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to walk, stand, crouch, kneel, and crawl to repair and fabricate.
  • Must be able to reach below, at and above shoulder height.
  • Ability to climb up and down on large equipment and stairs.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment and Hours:
This position requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors and may involve occasional exposure to varying environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud. Standard off-season hours are 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. During harvest, the schedule is 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, Monday through Saturday.
