Job Description

Barton Overhead Door is hiring a hands-on installer for our Sonora team. This is a skilled field position for someone who knows how to work safely with tools, measurements, hardware and moving mechanical systems. Direct garage-door experience is preferred, but we also want to meet experienced people from related trades—carpentry, HVAC, electrical, windows and doors, gates and fencing, mechanical repair, facilities maintenance, or construction installation. If you already know the overhead-door trade, your experience will be recognized in the starting rate. If you bring strong transferable trade skills, we will train you on our products and installation standards. What you'll do Install residential garage doors, tracks, hardware, springs and electric openers. Measure, lay out, level, fasten and adjust components for safe, reliable operation. Use hand and power tools safely and maintain an organized company vehicle and work area. Diagnose fit, alignment and basic mechanical or electrical issues encountered during installation. Load, secure and handle doors, operators, parts and jobsite materials. Communicate clearly with customers, contractors and the Sonora office. Keep supervisors informed about job progress, material needs and field conditions. Help with service or commercial work as your skills grow. What we're looking for At least two years of hands-on construction, installation, maintenance or mechanical-trade experience. Direct garage-door, commercial-door, window/door, gate, HVAC, electrical or carpentry experience is strongly preferred. Confident use of hand and power tools, ladders, levels, tape measures and jobsite fasteners. Ability to lift and position materials weighing up to 75 pounds safely. Ability to work on ladders and in changing indoor/outdoor jobsite conditions. Valid California driver's license and a driving record acceptable for operating a company vehicle. Professional communication, dependable attendance and care for customers' property. Ability to complete Barton's pre-employment requirements. Why Barton Starting pay recognizes directly relevant trade and garage-door experience. Paid, hands-on training in the overhead-door trade. Barton pays 100% of the employee's health-insurance premium after the waiting period and a portion of dependent coverage. Paid vacation after one year and several paid holidays. Retirement plan after 3 years (SEP IRA) and employee discount. Advancement paths into service, commercial installation, lead installation and sales. Established local company with year-round skilled-trade work. If you take pride in clean installations, solve problems in the field and want to build a long-term career in a specialized trade, tell us what you have installed, repaired or built—and which tools and equipment you use confidently.
