Maintenance Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Valley Center, CA. This role supports facilities, housing units, and government buildings through hands-on construction, repair, preventative maintenance, and general facilities upkeep. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general and preventative maintenance on housing units and government buildings, including painting, drywall repair, plumbing repairs, carpentry, framing, door repairs, fence repairs, and minor roof repairs.
- Install and replace building components such as rain gutters, water heaters, refrigerators, light fixtures, smoke detectors, toilets, faucets, cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall, shingles, and small-area concrete.
- Prepare job sites by tarping, taping, caulking, sanding, priming, cleaning surfaces, completing demolition, removing debris, and maintaining safe work areas.
- Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner, prepare material and cost estimates, and maintain inventory of supplies, parts, tools, and equipment.
- Support facility needs such as event setup and breakdown, furniture moves, temporary janitorial tasks, and assistance to other general services departments as needed.
- Operate heavy equipment and work extended hours or weekends when approved and necessary to meet project deadlines. Compensation and Benefits

Location:
Valley Center, CA. Required Qualifications and Skills- Perform hands-on facilities maintenance, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance work.
- Complete work orders, site preparation, repairs, replacements, cleanup, and general facilities support.
- Support housing units, government buildings, community facilities, and internal service requests.
- Maintain safe work areas, tools, equipment, supplies, and inventory while delivering professional customer service.
- High school diploma, G.E.D., equivalent U.S. credential, or California High School Proficiency Examination certificate required.
- 1+ years of related maintenance, construction, installation, repair, or facilities experience required.
- Hands-on knowledge of general construction, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, roofing, concrete, or building repair tasks.
- Ability to use and maintain tools, equipment, materials, and supplies safely and responsibly.
- Ability to follow directions, complete tasks on time, communicate schedule concerns, and take ownership of assigned work.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with residents, community members, and internal teams.
- Willingness to perform varied physical duties, including demolition, cleanup, janitorial support, event setup, furniture moves, and general labor. Preferred Qualifications
- Facilities maintenance, general construction, installation, or repair experience.
- Prior facilities maintenance experience in housing, government, public sector, community services, or similar environments.
- Experience preparing material estimates and maintaining maintenance supply inventories.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Broad repair knowledge across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, flooring, concrete finishing, painting, and drywall.
