A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
Multiple shifts available Position Overview CQ Staffing Maintenance Technicians support industrial, manufacturing, and distribution environments by performing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and equipment repair. This role ensures production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting and repair on mechanical systems including motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes. Diagnose issues with electrical components such as sensors, photo eyes, switches, relays, and wiring. Conduct preventative maintenance on production machinery to reduce unplanned downtime. Replace or repair bearings, belts, rollers, chains, sprockets, and other mechanical components. Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in a timely manner to support production goals. Read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic electrical schematics. Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, PMs, and equipment performance. Collaborate with production teams to identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions. Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements. Support facility maintenance tasks as needed (lighting, minor electrical, basic plumbing, etc.). Required Skills & Experience 2-5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. Basic electrical knowledge (low-voltage, sensors, switches, relays). Experience with conveyors, motors, hydraulics, or pneumatics. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in fast-paced environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience in distribution centers or automated facilities. Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment (no programming required). Knowledge of VFDs, motor controls, and industrial automation components. Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
