General Maintenance Technician Facilities Management | Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC) Keep our facility safe, functional, and ready to support exceptional patient care. At Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), our Facilities Management team plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and hands‑on Maintenance Technician to join our team in La Junta, Colorado. Located just east of the Rocky Mountains, AVRMC proudly serves Southeastern Colorado by providing high‑quality healthcare close to home. Position Summary As a General Maintenance Technician, you will perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the facility's physical structure and equipment remain in safe and optimal operating condition. This includes electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems, as well as preventative maintenance and emergency repairs. Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Repairs Perform maintenance and repairs on building systems including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural components Respond to urgent corrective repair needs in a timely and efficient manner Install, align, fabricate, and build equipment or systems as needed Perform preventative maintenance on facility structures, equipment, and control systems in compliance with safety and building codes Equipment & Operations Maintain and utilize plant tools and equipment safely and effectively Maintain working knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems Read blueprints and interpret technical instructions Assist specialized technicians (Electricians, HVAC, Plumbing) with assigned tasks Safety, Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs using CMMS Identify and respond to occupational hazards and follow safety protocols Participate in performance improvement and information management activities Ensure compliance with all regulatory and facility standards General Support & Teamwork Perform general manual duties such as moving equipment, grounds cleanup, and debris removal Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards Participate in on-call rotation as required Demonstrate flexibility to workday, evening, or night shifts as needed Professionalism & Conduct Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code Report to work on time and follow timekeeping procedures Maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies Build and maintain positive working relationships across departments Represent AVRMC in a professional and positive manner Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED One (1) to three (3) years of maintenance experience in a commercial environment Preferred Applicable industry certifications Skills & Knowledge Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry systems Ability to read blueprints and technical documents Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively Why Join AVRMC At AVRMC, every role contributes to patient care—even behind the scenes.
