Generator Source , located in Brighton, CO , is seeking a Generator Technician / Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician to perform scheduled preventive maintenance, load-bank testing, inspections, and minor repairs on commercial and industrial generator systems. This is a hands-on field position for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who is comfortable working independently at customer locations. You'll help keep generator equipment maintained and ready to perform, identify potential equipment issues, and coordinate with our Service Department when repairs require advanced diagnostics or a Field Service Technician. What You'll Do Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial generators and related equipment Perform engine oil and filter changes and replace fuel filters, air filters, and other routine maintenance items Safely operate a lube skid for oil changes and fluid service Perform load-bank testing and properly document test results Inspect batteries, cables, terminals, and charging systems; replace batteries and battery chargers as needed Inspect and replace belts and hoses and perform other defined minor repairs Inspect generator equipment for leaks, wear, damage, and other potential problems Identify equipment concerns and document issues requiring additional diagnosis or repair Escalate major engine, electrical, controls, alternator, or advanced diagnostic repairs to the appropriate Field Service Technician Complete service reports, work orders, inspection documentation, and parts usage accurately Maintain company-provided tools, equipment, service vehicle, and work areas in a clean and professional condition Communicate professionally with customers and the Service Department regarding maintenance performed and identified repair needs Follow all company safety policies and properly use required PPE Participate in training and develop additional generator maintenance and technical skills Perform other duties as assigned What We're Looking For 3+ years of mechanical, diesel, automotive, heavy equipment, generator, or similar hands-on maintenance experience preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance and defined minor repairs Experience with oil and filter changes, batteries, belts, hoses, cooling systems, or similar equipment maintenance Basic electrical knowledge and willingness to develop generator-specific electrical skills Ability to identify equipment concerns and recognize when an issue should be escalated for advanced diagnosis or repair High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to work independently at customer locations and communicate professionally with customers Ability to accurately document maintenance, inspections, testing, and identified repair needs Self-directed, dependable, and well organized Ability to work in a fast-paced field-service environment Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional overtime as needed Ability to travel occasionally based on customer and branch needs Physical Requirements This is an active field-service position.
Technicians must be able to:
Lift and carry up to 75 pounds Bend, kneel, climb, crouch, and work around generator equipment Safely climb on and around generator equipment, trailers, and related components Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Work safely around noise, oil, grease, diesel fuel, coolant, batteries, and other materials commonly associated with generator maintenance Safely use hand tools, power tools, and equipment required to perform preventive maintenance Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) Schedule & Availability Full-time, Monday through Friday Participate in an on-call rotation as assigned Occasional overtime, weekend, and after-hours work may be required based on customer needs Occasional travel may be required based on customer and branch needs About the Role This position is a great fit for someone with diesel, mechanical, automotive, heavy equipment, or generator maintenance experience who wants to build a career in the power generation industry.
