Job Overview The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and improving plant equipment, machinery, piping systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure. This is a hands-on position requiring strong mechanical skills and practical experience in pipefitting, welding, pump repair/rebuilding, electrical troubleshooting, and general industrial maintenance . The Maintenance Technician will work closely with Production, Engineering, EHS, and Management to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while minimizing unplanned downtime. Responsibilities Mechanical Maintenance Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Troubleshoot mechanical failures and determine appropriate repair methods. Repair, replace, align, and install bearings, shafts, couplings, seals, valves, gearboxes, motors, and other mechanical components. Perform equipment inspections and identify potential problems before equipment failure occurs. Assist with installation, relocation, modification, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. Maintain maintenance records, repair documentation, and parts inventories. Pipefitting & Piping Install, repair, modify, and maintain process piping, utility piping, valves, fittings, and associated equipment. Work with various piping materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, CPVC, and other industrial piping systems as applicable. Read and interpret piping layouts, drawings, and equipment specifications. Fabricate and install pipe supports, brackets, and related components. Troubleshoot leaks, blockages, pressure problems, and piping failures. Understand proper piping practices for water, steam, compressed air, chemicals, and other plant utilities. Welding & Fabrication Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding as required. Fabricate and repair equipment, platforms, guards, brackets, supports, piping, and structural components. Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and other metal fabrication activities. Safely perform hot work in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. Inspect completed welds and repairs for quality and proper fit. Pump Repair & Rebuilding Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and reinstall centrifugal, positive displacement, diaphragm, and other industrial pumps. Replace mechanical seals, packing, bearings, gaskets, diaphragms, and other wear components. Perform pump alignment and verify proper operation following repairs. Diagnose pump performance issues including loss of prime, cavitation, vibration, leakage, and reduced flow. Maintain an inventory of commonly required pump repair parts. Electrical & Controls Troubleshoot and repair basic industrial electrical systems and equipment. Diagnose electrical problems involving motors, starters, contactors, disconnects, switches, sensors, and control circuits. Assist with installation and maintenance of electrical equipment, conduit, wiring, and control components. Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters and voltage testers. Understand and follow electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Work with electricians or qualified electrical contractors on more complex electrical installations when required. General Facility Maintenance Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout the manufacturing facility. Maintain doors, locks, lighting, plumbing, ventilation, roofs, floors, walls, and other building systems. Maintain shop tools, welding equipment, compressors, forklifts, and other maintenance equipment as applicable. Respond to emergency maintenance calls and equipment breakdowns. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work area. Assist contractors and outside service providers when required. Troubleshoot mechanical failures and determine appropriate repair methods. Repair, replace, align, and install bearings, shafts, couplings, seals, valves, gearboxes, motors, and other mechanical components. Perform equipment inspections and identify potential problems before equipment failure occurs. Assist with installation, relocation, modification, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. Maintain maintenance records, repair documentation, and parts inventories. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements. Properly utilize PPE and follow hazardous energy control/LOTO procedures. Follow confined-space, hot-work, fall-protection, chemical-handling, and other applicable safety procedures. Maintain awareness of hazards associated with industrial manufacturing and chemical processing environments. Report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and potential hazards to Management and EHS. Participate in safety training and required inspections. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 3-5+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Demonstrated experience with industrial pumps, piping, welding, and mechanical equipment. Working knowledge of electrical systems and industrial controls. Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and piping diagrams. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, precision measuring tools, and electrical test equipment. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requirements. Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Good communication and documentation skills. Ability to safely lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding industrial environments. Forklift certification or experience preferred. Properly utilize PPE and follow hazardous energy control/LOTO procedures. Follow confined-space, hot-work, fall-protection, chemical-handling, and other applicable safety procedures. Maintain awareness of hazards associated with industrial manufacturing and chemical processing environments. Preferred Experience Experience in a chemical, coatings, paint, polymer, plastics, pharmaceutical, or other process manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
