Take your love of ice to the next level by learning how it's made and maintained! Danbury Ice Arena is seeking both full-time and part-time team members to operate and maintain Zamboni equipment, monitor and adjust ice-making systems, perform minor repairs, and assist with rink board and glass maintenance and cleaning. We are hiring at multiple experience levels , from Senior Ice Technicians with significant, verifiable experience to Ice Technicians with basic knowledge and entry-level Ice Tech Support team members who have skating experience and are eager to learn. Pay will be based on experience and skill level. This position can be physically demanding. Most hours are spent on your feet and may include lifting equipment on and off the ice, shoveling snow, and working in a cold and wet environment. If hockey or skating is already in your blood, even better!
JOB DUTIES
Ice Maintenance Operate and maintain Zamboni and other ice resurfacing equipment. Perform regular ice resurfacing, edging, and other ice maintenance activities. Monitor ice-making equipment, ice temperatures, and overall ice conditions. Make necessary adjustments to maintain safe and optimal ice conditions for hockey, figure skating, and other activities. Staff & Operations Support Coordinate with ice resurfacing technicians, facility maintenance staff, and other personnel involved in arena operations. Assist with assigned tasks to ensure adequate coverage for ice maintenance, facility cleaning, and event setup. Senior Ice Technicians may assist with coordinating work assignments and providing guidance to less experienced Ice Technicians and support staff. Equipment Maintenance Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on Zambonis, ice resurfacing machines, and other equipment used for ice maintenance. Conduct regular equipment inspections and preventive maintenance to help minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability. Assist with rink board and glass repair and cleaning. Safety & Compliance Follow established safety protocols and procedures to help prevent accidents and injuries on the ice surface and throughout the facility. Follow proper procedures for the handling, use, and storage of materials and chemicals used in ice maintenance. Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and maintenance issues to management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Mechanical knowledge preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. Valid, clean driver's license. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Flexible availability, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Skating experience preferred for entry-level Ice Tech Support positions.
