Carpentry, Painting, & General Building Maintenance Summary:

The Maintenance Technician maintains the functionality, appearance, and safety of Indian Mountain School's campus facilities. This hands-on role focuses on carpentry, painting, and routine repairs. The ideal candidate works independently with high attention to detail and assists the broader Facilities team as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carpentry & Finishes:

Install, repair, and adjust doors, hardware, cabinetry, trim, casework, drywall, ceiling tiles, and flooring across campus facilities

Painting:

Prepare surfaces and apply high-quality interior and exterior finishes while protecting surrounding areas, furniture, and fixtures

Maintenance & Operations:

Complete assigned work orders efficiently, maintain orderly work zones, and minimize disruptions to daily school programs

Team Collaboration & Campus Support:

Assist with campus setups, special events, seasonal work, emergency responses, and general facilities tasks outside core trade areas

Safety & Inventory:

Operate tools safely, follow all campus safety protocols, maintain work areas, track material inventory, and report supply/equipment needs to the Director of Facilities

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Significant professional background in carpentry, painting, or building trades. Strong proficiency with trade tools, measurement, material estimation, and repair techniques for interior/exterior finishes Clear communication, strong time management, independent problem-solving, and a professional attitude around students, staff, and visitors Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to lift, carry, and move 50+ lbs Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, crawl, and work at heights in all weather conditions Exposure to typical maintenance environments (dust, noise, odors) Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday shifts to support a year-round boarding school environment Tobacco-free campus
