Job Description

Hydrocare Pools & Spas is a growing swimming pool and spa company serving customers throughout Northwest Connecticut. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead our day-to-day operations and help drive the continued growth and profitability of the business. This is a key leadership position for someone who understands that successful pool service requires strong people management, disciplined operations, exceptional customer service, and financial accountability. Position Summary The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the daily operation of Hydrocare Pools & Spas. This individual will lead employees, manage service operations, oversee scheduling and customer relationships, monitor financial performance, and ensure the company consistently delivers high-quality service. The ideal candidate is an experienced manager who is comfortable working in a fast-paced seasonal business and knows how to balance people, customers, operations, and profitability. Key Responsibilities Operations & Leadership
  • Oversee the daily operations of the company and ensure work is completed efficiently and profitably.
  • Lead, manage, and develop service technicians and other employees.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, overtime, and labor utilization.
  • Identify operational problems and implement practical solutions.
  • Develop and improve systems and processes as the company grows.
  • Coordinate staffing and resources to meet seasonal demands. Service Department
  • Oversee pool maintenance, openings, closings, repairs, and other service operations.
  • Manage scheduling and routing to maximize technician productivity and minimize unnecessary drive time.
  • Ensure service work is completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
  • Monitor callbacks and customer issues and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Work closely with technicians to resolve difficult service and customer situations.
  • Ensure company vehicles, equipment, tools, and inventory are properly maintained. Customer Service
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns professionally and effectively.
  • Establish a culture where customer satisfaction and quality workmanship are priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer retention and increase revenue from existing customers. Financial & Business Management
  • Monitor revenue, labor costs, overtime, gross margins, and overall profitability.
  • Review department and employee performance against company goals.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue while controlling unnecessary expenses.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning.
  • Monitor pricing, service profitability, and operational costs.
  • Help develop strategies for continued growth. Sales & Growth
  • Identify opportunities for additional service, repair, maintenance, and equipment sales.
  • Work with the team to increase customer retention and lifetime customer value.
  • Develop relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other business partners.
  • Help identify new opportunities for growth in the company's service territory. Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Ensure employees follow company policies and safe work practices.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable employment, safety, and operational requirements. Qualifications
  • 5+ years of management experience, preferably in a service-based business.
  • Experience managing field/service employees strongly preferred.
  • Pool industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, routing, labor management, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and solve problems quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a seasonal business with significant fluctuations in workload.
  • Proficiency with computers and business management software.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
