Job Overview This historic property was restored to function as a B&B, and now operates providing comfortable year-round housing to 5 tenants. I am seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Handyman to manage the upkeep of this property. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our building interiors, facilities equipment and grounds. Your expertise will ensure that all systems operate smoothly, repairs are completed efficiently, and the environment remains welcoming and well-kept. Responsibilities As needed, perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and building interior components to ensure optimal operation. Conduct repairs using owner supplied hand tools and power tools to address issues with property systems or advise owner on needed outside contractors. Maintain facilities equipment including HVAC systems, electrical panels, plumbing fixtures, and building interior elements through troubleshooting and preventive care. Execute maintenance painting projects and carpentry tasks to uphold the aesthetic quality of the facility. Perform grounds-keeping chores as required; including but not limited to mowing, snow shoveling, co-ordinating snowplow access, stacking or moving firewood Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff or tenants and communicating clearly about repair progress. Basic experience in facilities maintenance or related roles with a strong grounds-keeping and carpentry knowledge base. Basic knowledge in electrical work, plumbing system maintenance and repair, HVAC system repair, and building interior upkeep. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools and schematics. Knowledge of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), with experience handling facility equipment maintenance tasks efficiently. Strong communication skills in English to effectively coordinate with owner and tenants. Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to prioritize tasks independently while working safely in a fast-paced environment. Nice-to-have skills include experience with residential painting, carpentry, electrical experience beyond basic repairs, HVAC system repair expertise, and familiarity with maintenance painting techniques.
