Full Job Description Trinity Lutheran Church and School Job Description Position Title:
Facilities Maintenance Technician Position Summary The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing the campus cleanliness and orderliness while maintaining a safe environment. In alignment with Trinity Delray Lutheran Church and School's mission and vision, the Facilities Maintenance Technician performs a variety of general maintenance, repair and custodial work, including grounds and building maintenance. Periodic assistance to custodial duties. Ensures a safe, clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for students, staff, church members, and guests.

This position works collaboratively with Facilities Department personnel to support a unified ministry approach. Reporting Structure The Facilities Maintenance Technician is accountable to the congregation through the Facilities Director. General Responsibilities Champion the mission, vision, and values of Trinity Delray. Maintain regular worship attendance and actively participate as a member of the church community. Adhere to all policies outlined in the Staff & Volunteer Handbook and Human Resource Manual. Demonstrate ongoing spiritual growth and servant leadership. Maintain a professional development plan and review annually with the Facilities Director. Represent Trinity in the broader community with professionalism and integrity. Maintain availability and responsiveness as needed, including during emergencies or off-site hours and work. Specialized Responsibilities Performs required labor for custodial maintenance of church and school facilities as part of a work crew or individually, including but not limited to cleaning carpets, floors, windows, spills, entryways, etc. Performs required labor for grounds maintenance of church and school facilities as part of a work crew or individually, including but not limited to mowing and trimming, sprinkler system maintenance, cleaning vegetation debris, fertilizing, etc. Performs required labor for general maintenance of church and school facilities as part of a work crew or individually, including but not limited to minor interior and exterior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry and other trades work, sweeping sidewalks, setting up meeting rooms, moving furniture, etc. May operate a variety of light to medium equipment in the performance of the job duties that may include mowers, floor scrubbers, saws, various hand and power tools, and numerous other pieces of equipment used to perform skilled, technical, and labor/trade functions. Tracks time and materials for all tasks on work orders for accurate recordkeeping. Responds to complaints regarding water leaks, pressure loss or no water; evaluates situation; explains findings to supervisor. Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use. Assists with cleaning and organization of the shop area. Cleans assigned equipment, performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor. Ensure the safety and regulatory compliance with pertinent safety standards for self and assisting work crew. Ensure compliance with traffic laws, ordinances, and rules while performing work tasks. Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, consumption of supplies and materials, etc through an electronic work order system. Employment is subject to required background checks and drug screening. Employees shall share information regarding other employees, students, parents, and church members, only on an "as needed" basis. It's expected that all staff will conduct themselves professionally when discussing staff, students or a family's personal matters, using the eighth commandment as a guideline. Any such communications shall be done on a professional basis with only the welfare of those persons in mind. If someone needs to know the information, it's appropriate to share. If they don't need to know, then the information that is shared becomes "gossip," which is inappropriate and may be terms for immediate dismissal. All other duties as assigned. Availability to work on-call schedule as needed. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities. Working knowledge of maintenance operations, services, and activities as they relate to the operation of church and school facilities. Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs. Working knowledge of first aid and applicable industry safety precautions. Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures. Ability to use equipment and tools safely. Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems (Air Conditioner Certified preferred) Ability to perform requirements to obtain a CDL and operate a school bus. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other workers and the public. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to work independently and to complete daily scheduled work activities as required. Minimum Qualifications Active member in good standing of Trinity Delray Lutheran Church (or willingness to become one). Demonstrates a consistent Christian lifestyle and commitment to congregational life and mission. Ability to use standard facility management software, email, and communication tools. Physical Requirements Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be able to pass a background check and drug testing. Able to remain on feet for extended periods and work in a variety of indoor/outdoor settings. Will be required to work in person, on the campus of the school. Comfortable working around young children, including sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs. Comfortable navigating stairs, ladders, rooftops, and confined spaces as needed. Able to lift and carry small children up to 80 pounds in emergencies. This position includes sitting, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, climbing, and balancing on a frequent to constant basis. Due to the physical nature of this position, sufficient physical stamina, mobility, and dexterity are required, as is the ability to hear and see to safely perform assigned tasks. Must be able to frequently lift and or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds. Must be able to read Safety Data Sheets (SDS) before handling toxic or caustic chemicals or any other material requiring an SDS. Work is frequently performed in inclement weather conditions, with temperatures reaching above 100 degrees. Work may occasionally be performed indoors, but will frequently be performed outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, bloodborne pathogens and vehicular traffic.
