Job Goal The Instructor of Facility/Apartment Maintenance is responsible for providing quality instruction to students by ensuring student satisfaction through the classroom and/or laboratory setting according to program objectives. The instructor conducts activities which directly support the objectives of the program, and the institutional goals of the institution. This instructor reports to the Dean, School of Advanced Manufacturing & Public Safety. Responsibilities Instruct students in basic to advanced level appliance repair, basic electrical, plumbing, flooring, pool basics, landscaping basics, advanced electrical, carpentry, HVAC troubleshooting, and customer service skills. Develop lesson plans based on course objectives. Teach from detailed curriculum. Assess student progress on a routine basis. Instruction in a classroom environment and labs. Organize and present prepared instructional materials at scheduled times and places. Maintain communications with students and colleagues to assure efficient and effective instruction. Maintain records of student attendance, student progress, departmental supplies, departmental equipment, and others. Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities. Minimum Qualifications Possess six years full-time occupational experience in facility/apartment maintenance. Knowledge, skill, and education in facility/apartment maintenance methods. Standard high school diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Qualifying Occupational Fields/Work Experience Appliance repair, basic electrical, plumbing, flooring, pool basics, landscaping basics, advanced electrical, carpentry, HVAC troubleshooting, and customer service skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Tenant liaison and communications skills. Management liaison and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of students. Industry Credentials (Preferred not Mandatory) Facilities Management Certification
