What We Are Looking For:
Panama City Housing Authority is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. This full-time position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, sanitary, and well-functioning housing for our residents. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in general building, apartment, property, or facilities maintenance, with experience in one or more areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, appliance repair, or general repair. We're looking for someone who is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship. The right candidate will take pride in their work, have strong problem-solving skills, and interact professionally with residents, vendors, and coworkers. In this role, you will: Perform general maintenance and repair work in occupied and vacant housing units. Repair and replace doors, cabinets, window frames, flooring, roofing materials, and other structures. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs involving plumbing, HVAC, electrical components, appliances, and fixtures within the scope of the position. Respond to work orders and emergency calls in a timely and professional manner. Prepare and renovate vacant units for new residents in accordance with applicable housing standards. Maintain tools, materials, and supplies in good working condition. Follow safety regulations and Housing Authority policies in all assigned work. Assist with cleaning and upkeep of common areas and building exteriors. Support inspections, documentation, and compliance with HUD requirements and applicable local building codes.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Hands-on experience in building, property, apartment, facilities, construction, or general maintenance. Basic knowledge of common maintenance and repair practices. Basic computer skills and ability to use software to track work orders and inventory. Valid Florida driver's license with the ability to travel between PCHA properties. Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining professionalism and efficiency. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed. Ability to complete Fair Housing training and other required courses within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Multifamily, apartment, or residential property maintenance experience. Experience in one or more maintenance trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, appliance repair, or unit turns. HVAC/EPA or other relevant maintenance or construction certifications. Familiarity with HUD housing standards, EPA lead-paint requirements, lead-safe work practices, or affordable housing environments.
