POSITION TITLE
Facility Maintenance TechnicianPOSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the safe and effective troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of assets related to corporate headquarters buildings in accordance with company directives .REPORTING TO
Position reports to Principal Scientist.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates, manages, and conducts facility activities which may include, but are not limited to the following: general repair, plumbing, and overall maintenance, construction management, relocations, HVAC, electrical, security and alarm systems, telecommunications systems, utilities, painting, patching, pest control, janitorial, signage, furniture and equipment set ups, and cubicle reconfigurations .
- Troubleshoots, conducts preventive maintenance, and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery, HVAC, electrical instruments and control systems, electrical power systems, process, and piping systems, as necessary .
- Handles building equipment emergencies and communicates as the focal point between company employees and outside contractors .
- Calls in contractors to fix problems; reviews their work completed and make sure conditions are left as found by contractor .
- Reviews and first level of approval for contractor invoices .
- Collects and presents proposals for work to be done by contractors .
- Manages and controls tools and supplies inventory.
- Manages and supervises landscaping and cleaning crews and reports on their work .
- Identifies facility needs and obtains necessary details to develop proper solutions and partners with outside contractors for implementation .
- Manages building and equipment maintenance schedules, runs tests on building security systems, and participates in the creation of action plans in preparation for emergencies .
- Elevator and life safety inspections for building to be maintained to date .
- Coordinates with Environmental, Safety, and Health staff for compliance with OSHA and ADA.
- Maintains log of work to be performed and provides reports as needed.
- Perform other duties as required .
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 8-10 years of maintenance experience required, with a strong knowledge of general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc .
- Valid Driver's License to operate company vehicle, and a good driving record .
- Some weekend and evening work will be required at times .
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience of handling maintenance duties at multiple locations is a plus .
- Minimum of 2 years with Forklift experience .
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work environment varies from an office setting to periodic exposure to the typical elements (i.e . , dust, moderate noise, close proximity to semi-automated manufacturing equipment, and hot and cold climates . )
- Ability to occasionally lift to 50 lbs . independently; and up to 100 pounds with assistance .
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces .
TRAVEL:
- Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
- Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.
