About the General Maintenance Technician Role Summit Skilled Solutions is hiring a General Maintenance Technician in Alpharetta, GA 30005. In this full-time, contract-to-hire role, you will complete preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial facility equipment as part of a facilities maintenance team. We're looking for an excellent communicator with strong follow-through and an ownership attitude who is ready to cross-train and go where the work is. Pay is $28.00 to $35.00 per hour. General Maintenance Technician Responsibilities Follow all safety guidelines, including OSHA regulations and lock-out/tag-out procedures Conduct shift rounds: regular checks of systems and equipment to spot issues and document performance Inspect and evaluate operating characteristics such as speeds, pressures, vacuum, and vibration, and replace expendables like belts, hoses, fluids, and filters Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose malfunctions on HVAC, fire life safety, plumbing, and electrical systems; transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels and circuits, and variable frequency drives; dock equipment (overhead doors, dock levelers, dock locks, and seals); and building and parking lot lighting, photoelectric eyes, emergency and exit lights, and 120-volt outlets Repair systems and equipment, including rebuilding pumps, steam traps, valves, and pneumatic solenoid devices; fixing plumbing leaks and stoppages; replacing sinks, piping, and valves; maintaining electrical controls, lighting, and distribution systems; and painting walls as needed Handle administrative tasks such as ordering parts, creating POs, managing vendors, and attending job and project meetings Document work in the CMMS, analyze findings, and recommend updates to the PM list Communicate clearly with coworkers and customer staff so work requests are understood and customers are informed of status and expected completion dates Manage maintenance projects, including complex equipment repairs, and provide guidance to facilities subcontractors Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager, with potential overnight travel General Maintenance Technician Schedule and Pay 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Occasional non-standard schedules and weekend work may be needed $28.00 to $35.00 per hour Contract-to-hire Start date: September 29, 2026 What We're Looking For in a General Maintenance Technician High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or trade school training preferred 4 years of experience and/or training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills (an equivalent combination of training, education, and manufacturing maintenance experience is acceptable) Valid driver's license, forklift operator's license, and JLG operator's license required Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and aerial lift Ability to use hand tools and small and large power tools Ability to disassemble and reassemble fixtures, fans, pumps, HVAC equipment, and other building equipment Understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and building envelope Ability to read and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and email, plus work order systems and building automation software Comfortable using a computer, cell phone, and tablet Ability to write routine reports and speak effectively with customers and employees Basic math skills, including percentages, area, volume, and basic algebra and geometry Strong problem solver who adapts to changing priorities and stays productive during unexpected downtime What We Offer Our General Maintenance Technicians Paid time off Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Apply to Be a General Maintenance Technician with Summit Skilled Solutions If you're a hands-on maintenance pro who takes pride in keeping facilities running, apply today through Indeed.
