Job Description
Job Summary USMT is seeking a quality focused and detail-oriented Senior Maintenance Technician who is ready to take initiative in a fast-paced environment. This job requires the ability to coordinate and plan work as well as complete hands-on tasks. This position is the equipment technical expert for our business. It requires a self-disciplined, organized, and attentive work style. Working with peers to gain understanding of equipment and process as well as completing tasks properly the first time. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to follow all procedures to facilitate the proper maintenance and troubleshooting of all plant equipment. Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, controls, sensors, VFDs, and power distribution (including 480V where applicable).
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore production quickly and safely.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime.
- Identify root causes of failures and recommend permanent corrective actions.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and line improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and PM documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and electrical safety standards.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and outside contractors as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade school preferred
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in manufacturing
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (motors, controls, relays, sensors)
- Experience with mechanical systems (bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, presses, pumps)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and automation systems is a plus
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and reliability concepts
- Ability to read schematics and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience maintaining mechanical power presses and coil feed lines and their respective control systems.
- Experience maintaining CNC machining centers.
- Experience maintaining laser and water jet cutting equipment.
- Experience maintaining CMMS software (
