Job Description

VCS is looking for Facilities Maintenance Technician / Building Engineer (Contract Position) at Waimea, HI. •Candidate must be local to Kauai Island, Pay is dependent on experience•
Location:
Kauai, Hawaii Pay rate: $25/hr
Contract:
12 months with possible extension
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Seeking a versatile and self-motivated Facilities Maintenance Technician / Building Engineer to support client's operations on Kauai. This position is ideal for an experienced "jack-of-all-trades" professional who enjoys solving problems, working with their hands, and maintaining a wide variety of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform general building maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and support projects across office, laboratory, warehouse, agricultural, and field facilities. No two days are the same, making this role perfect for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in keeping facilities operating safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform general building maintenance and repairs across multiple facilities. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, doors, windows, locks, and other building systems. Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete routine work orders. Support HVAC, irrigation, generator, and utility system maintenance. Install shelving, fixtures, signs, office furniture, and building equipment. Assist with facility improvement projects, renovations, and construction activities. Operate company vehicles, tools, equipment, lifts, and light machinery safely. Coordinate with contractors and vendors performing work on-site. Respond to facility issues as they arise and help maintain safe, functional workplaces. Maintain accurate maintenance records and support compliance with safety requirements. Assist with grounds, infrastructure, and site-related maintenance activities as needed. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building engineering, construction, property maintenance, or a related field. Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. Preferred Trade certifications or vocational training in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or related disciplines. Experience in industrial, commercial, agricultural, hospitality, or research facilities. Experience operating lifts, light equipment, and maintenance tools. Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and work order systems. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physical work throughout the day.
