Full Job Description Summary:
Serves as the district's primary support for preventive maintenance, minor repairs, building systems, and grounds maintenance while assisting with custodial operations as needed to maintain safe, clean, and well-functioning facilities. The position is expected to dedicate approximately 50% of time to preventive maintenance and repairs, 25% to grounds maintenance and seasonal operations, and 25% to custodial support, with responsibilities adjusted based on district and seasonal needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections of district facilities, equipment, and building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. Support building systems through routine monitoring, maintenance, recordkeeping, and communication of concerns, including HVAC systems, building controls, and other facility-related systems. Support district safety systems by completing routine inspections, documentation, and recordkeeping related to fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, exit signs, and other required safety equipment. Maintain working knowledge of the district's fire alarm system and related safety procedures; communicate system concerns with service providers and district administration, maintain required records, and assist with coordination of fire drills and emergency procedures in collaboration with building principals. Complete minor repairs and maintenance involving building systems, fixtures, equipment, and furnishings within the scope and training of the position. Perform grounds maintenance, including lawn care, landscaping, athletic field support, snow and ice removal, and seasonal outdoor maintenance. Operate and maintain custodial, maintenance, grounds, and snow removal equipment in a safe and effective manner, including completing required inspections and reporting equipment concerns. Assist with custodial operations, including cleaning, trash removal, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and restocking supplies, to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming facilities. Support facility projects, including floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, painting, equipment installation, furniture moves, and other maintenance or custodial improvement projects. Respond to facility requests, including room setups and tear-downs, athletic event support, moving equipment or furniture, and receiving or storing deliveries. Maintain custodial, maintenance, and grounds supplies and storage areas in an organized, secure, and efficient manner; monitor inventory and communicate supply needs. Assist in securing district facilities by ensuring doors, windows, gates, and other access points are properly secured when appropriate. Promptly report safety hazards, facility concerns, equipment issues, and maintenance needs to the Lead Custodian or Superintendent. Promote positive working relationships with students, staff, supervisors, and community members while providing excellent customer service. Follow all North Linn Community School District policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations. Participate in required safety training, professional development, and district meetings. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
