MIU - Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Job Summary Perform ongoing facility maintenance repairs on demand as requested by University Faculty and Staff while complying with all applicable regulations and building codes. The Maintenance Tech is responsible for performing a variety of work including the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in assigned area(s). Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on client requirements and business needs. All work will be done in compliance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety rules and regulations. Job Responsibilities Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings, facilities, equipment, and structures, including carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, roofing, and welding repairs. Inspect buildings and facilities regularly to identify structural damage, maintenance issues, and potential safety hazards. Repair and maintain doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and other building components to ensure they remain safe and functional. Repair broken, clogged, or leaking plumbing fixtures and piping to prevent water damage and restore proper operation. Perform basic maintenance and repairs involving electrical wiring, heating systems, machinery, and other building equipment as permitted by applicable safety requirements. Apply preventive maintenance measures, such as roof sealants, caulking, painting, and other protective treatments, to reduce the risk of future damage. Use and safely operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and materials required to perform maintenance and repair tasks. Lift, move, and handle equipment, tools, and supplies as necessary to complete maintenance duties safely and effectively. Perform other duties as assigned.

Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, roofing, and welding Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues Administrative skills for ordering supplies, handling records, and scheduling maintenance Physical strength and agility to lift, move and handle equipment Stamina to deal with long hours standing or walking Strong verbal and written communication for discussing maintenance issues Ability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions Organizational and time management skills Valid Driver's LicenseCareer Insights for Building and General Maintenance Technician
