Job Description
Job Overview J-Six Farms is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to support swine barn operations in Southwest Iowa. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing barn systems and equipment to help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations. Duties
- Work with swine managers to prioritize repairs, maintenance needs, and facility projects.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on swine barns, equipment, and building systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical components, read voltage, and assist with repairs involving 120- and 240-volt systems.
- Replace and repair electrical motors, water pumps, fan motors, feed-line motors, and related equipment.
- Learn, understand, and troubleshoot control boxes, curtain machines, ventilation controls, and other barn operating systems.
- Complete plumbing repairs involving water lines, pumps, water heaters, and related facility systems.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and repair work on gates, feeders, hardware, and other barn equipment.
- Assist with carpentry, concrete, and general building repairs as needed to maintain safe and functional facilities.
- Follow all safety policies, biosecurity protocols, and animal well-being procedures while working in and around swine facilities.
- Maintain tools, service vehicle organization, and parts inventory to complete work orders efficiently and safely. Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and facility issues.
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, welding, concrete, carpentry, or agricultural facility maintenance preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with managers and team members.
- Comfortable working in swine barns and following strict biosecurity procedures.
