The Hanover Park Park District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Parks Maintenance Technician I to help maintain our parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, facilities, and outdoor spaces. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in maintaining public spaces, and want to build a career in parks, facilities, landscaping, construction, or municipal maintenance. Every day offers something different, from maintaining athletic fields and playgrounds to supporting special events and snow operations. Position Overview Parks Maintenance Technicians play an important role in creating safe, clean, and welcoming parks and facilities for residents and visitors. Under the direction of the Parks Manager, this position performs a variety of maintenance, repair, landscaping, construction, and operational duties throughout the District. What You'll Do Maintain parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, landscaped areas, trails, and outdoor facilities Perform mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, watering, litter removal, and general grounds maintenance Assist with athletic field preparation and maintenance Complete routine repairs, installations, and improvement projects Operate District vehicles, maintenance equipment, hand tools, and power tools Assist with special events, facility setups, and operational projects Inspect parks and facilities and report maintenance concerns or hazards Participate in snow and ice removal operations during winter months Support emergency response, weather-related operations, and on-call assignments as needed Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent required Valid Illinois driver's license required Previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, construction, facilities maintenance, athletics, groundskeeping, or related fields is preferred but not required Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment after training Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and respond to operational emergencies Who Should Apply?
