Holiday Inn in Mattoon, IL is seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to help maintain our hotel property, guest rooms, equipment, and common areas in safe and good working condition. Job Responsibilities Perform routine preventive maintenance throughout the hotel. Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests. Inspect and repair basic issues involving doors, locks, furniture, fixtures, toilets, faucets, drains, lighting, and other hotel equipment. Perform minor plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and general repair work within appropriate skill and licensing limits. Replace light bulbs, filters, batteries, hardware, and other routine maintenance items. Maintain guest rooms, hallways, public areas, exterior areas, and back-of-house equipment in good condition. Perform regular inspections of the building and report problems requiring professional repair. Assist with basic preventive maintenance of heating and cooling equipment, while referring specialized HVAC repairs to qualified contractors. Monitor hotel equipment and promptly report safety concerns, water leaks, unusual noises, equipment failures, or property damage. Assist with snow removal, grounds upkeep, and other seasonal maintenance when necessary. Maintain maintenance tools, supplies, storage areas, and work areas in a clean and organized condition. Complete maintenance logs and document repairs and inspections. Follow hotel safety procedures and applicable workplace-safety requirements. Coordinate with management and outside licensed contractors when specialized electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevator, fire/life-safety, or other licensed work is required. Assist other hotel departments with maintenance-related needs as reasonably assigned. Qualifications Previous hotel, apartment, building, facilities, or general maintenance experience preferred. General knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, carpentry, and mechanical repairs. Ability to troubleshoot common maintenance problems. Ability to work independently and prioritize repair requests. Dependable, punctual, and able to respond professionally to hotel guests and employees. Ability to safely use common hand tools and maintenance equipment. Ability to lift and carry maintenance supplies and equipment and perform physical work such as bending, climbing, reaching, and standing for extended periods. Availability to work weekends, holidays, or respond to urgent maintenance situations when scheduled may be required.
