Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports a high-speed manufacturing operation by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems. This role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment while working on alternative shifts and occasional extended hours. Responsibilities Follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices at all times while performing maintenance activities. Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubricating equipment, measuring wear, checking positions, repositioning components, and observing operations to identify potential issues. Carry out emergency and breakdown maintenance as needed to support continuous plant operations and minimize production downtime. Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other repairs and installations on production equipment and supporting systems. Use and interpret schematics and blueprints to diagnose problems and complete repairs and installations accurately. Conduct PLC troubleshooting and work with three-phase power systems as part of electrical maintenance activities. Perform mechanical maintenance, including work on motors and related mechanical components, and complete repairs using appropriate tools and methods. Complete welding tasks as required to support equipment repair and maintenance projects. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, and ensure proper cleanup at the completion of each assigned task. Accurately prepare, update, and maintain maintenance records, logs, and other required paperwork to document work performed. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and system problems efficiently to restore operations and improve reliability. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, demonstrating excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills. Participate in cross-training in other technical areas to broaden skills and enhance overall maintenance capabilities. Work alternative shifts, including second or third shift, as well as weekends and overtime when required to meet production needs. Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support plant operations. Essential Skills At least 57 years of experience working within a high-speed manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs and performing electrical maintenance. in mechanical maintenance, including work with motors and mechanical components. Proficiency in hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair. Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints for electrical and mechanical systems. Experience with three-phase electrical systems and related industrial power equipment. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical issues in a production setting. Ability to perform welding tasks safely and effectively when needed for maintenance work. Proven ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Strong teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving abilities in a manufacturing environment. Willingness and ability to work alternative shifts, weekends, and overtime as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a maintenance technician in a unionized manufacturing environment is beneficial. Exposure to corrugated packaging or similar industrial production processes is an advantage, especially for higher-level technicians. Capability and willingness to fully cross-train across multiple technical disciplines to increase versatility.
