| Chicago area An established heavy-manufacturing plant is adding a mechanical maintenance technician to its 2nd-shift team. This is the person who keeps heavy machinery moving
  • performing preventive maintenance and precision repairs on presses, hydraulics, and power-transmission systems so production does not stall.
The role is hands-on and physical, spanning mechanical repair, basic electrical and controls support, and CMMS-tracked work orders on complex plant equipment. For a mechanically strong maintenance tech, this offers a competitive hourly rate at the top of the local market and a stable, long-established manufacturer to grow with. Anticipated $26.80
  • 33.80/hr, based on experience Benefits include: Health, Dental, Vision, 401K w/ match, PTO, holidays 2nd shift (evenings), Monday-Friday Overview Keep heavy machinery running through routine preventive maintenance on presses, hydraulics, and drive systems Diagnose and repair mechanical failures
  • bearings, gearboxes, couplings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems Inspect plant equipment and catch mechanical or electrical issues before they cause a breakdown Support basic electrical and controls repairs alongside the electrical team Open, update, and close work orders in the plant CMMS with parts and repair detail Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move heavy components Preferred Skills and Experience High school diploma or GED 3-5 years of progressive industrial mechanical maintenance in a heavy manufacturing or production plant Strongly Preferred•hands-on experience with high-pressure hydraulics and mechanical power transmission Strongly Preferred•experience on industrial punch presses or similar heavy stamping/forming machinery Practical troubleshooting of intermediate electrical controls and multi-phase components Experience with precision alignment tools and industrial power tools Structural or machine-framing welding a distinct advantage Comfort learning and using a CMMS for work orders and asset tracking Keywords maintenance mechanic, industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance technician, hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, punch press, stamping press, press maintenance, metal forming, preventive maintenance, PM, conveyors, precision alignment, welding, forklift, overhead crane, CMMS, 3-phase, motors, manufacturing maintenance, machine repair, industrial maintenance technician EEO
