Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (MMT) - 2nd and 3rd ShiftsPosition Summary We are seeking experienced Manufacturing Maintenance Technicians to support second- and third-shift operations at a metal and thermal manufacturing facility in Wheeling, Illinois. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining production machinery, facility systems, and automated manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate has strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience working with PLC-controlled machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, and industrial production equipment.

$32.00-$43.00 per hour, based on experience 2nd

Shift Differential:

Additional $0.50 per hour 3rd

Additional $2.00 per hour Overtime and weekend availability may be required based on production needs. Only 2nd and 3rd shifts are currently available. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial production equipment. Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance. Respond promptly to production breakdowns and equipment-support requests. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated-control issues. Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery, sensors, relays, switches, contactors, and input/output devices. Diagnose and repair motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, conveyors, valves, cylinders, and drive systems. Troubleshoot variable-frequency drives, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems. Maintain equipment used in metal processing, forming, cutting, welding, brazing, and thermal manufacturing. Perform machine alignments, adjustments, changeovers, and equipment installations. Replace defective components and complete repairs to reduce production downtime. Assist with equipment modifications and manufacturing-process improvements. Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Use multimeters, electrical-testing instruments, diagnostic tools, and precision measuring equipment. Perform welding, fabrication, cutting, drilling, grinding, and basic machining as needed. Identify replacement parts and communicate inventory needs. Complete work orders and document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts usage. Communicate unresolved problems and equipment conditions during shift handoffs. Work closely with production, engineering, quality, and other maintenance personnel. Follow all lockout/tagout, electrical-safety, machine-guarding, and company safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area. Perform additional maintenance and facility duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree, apprenticeship, or industrial-maintenance certification preferred. At least three years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience preferred. Experience within a metal, thermal, automotive, fabrication, or high-volume manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities. Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley or similar PLC systems preferred. Experience with VFDs, motor controls, sensors, relays, and industrial electrical components. Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and mechanical drive systems. Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals. Experience with welding, fabrication, and basic machining preferred. Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system and complete work orders accurately. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with production and maintenance teams. Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime or weekends when required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, and pull. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when properly trained. Ability to lift and move tools, parts, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, electrical-testing equipment, and maintenance machinery. Ability to work around moving machinery, electrical systems, oils, lubricants, metal materials, high temperatures, and elevated noise levels. Work Environment This position is performed in an active metal and thermal manufacturing facility. Employees may be exposed to moving machinery, hot surfaces, electrical equipment, oils, metal materials, and changing temperatures. All required personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be followed.

Pay:

$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
