Summary of Position:
As a Facility Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position will assist the Facilities Manager with duties related to maintaining Bangs Laboratories facility and grounds. Schedule can be flexible 4hrs-6hrs per day. Essential Functions Conducting regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs, hazards, or potential failures. Performing preventive and routine maintenance on HVAC systems (filter changes, coil cleaning, diagnostics), plumbing (leaks, clogs, fixtures), electrical systems (lighting, outlets, switches, basic wiring), and mechanical components. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks across the facility (floor scrubbing, mopping, changing light bulbs, laboratory etc.) Completing basic repairs in painting, drywall, flooring, doors/hardware, and general building structure. Responding promptly to maintenance requests and work orders at the direction of the Facilities Manager; troubleshooting and diagnosing issues. Maintaining grounds (landscaping, snow/ice removal, parking areas, trash/property clean up, pressure washing) and assisting with event setups/breakdowns or furniture moves. Performing other related tasks such as minor appliance/equipment repairs or supporting custodial needs as required. Ensuring all areas are well-stocked and organized. Identifying and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Working collaboratively with the team to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Assist with DI water system maintenance. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED 1-2 years of hands-on experience in facilities/building maintenance, or related fields preferred Proficiency with hand and power tools; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team; good communication and customer-service skills. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and stand/walk for extended periods. Dependable and detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic. Comfortable taking initiative and managing tasks independently. Team player who values collaboration and communication. Committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
