Job Description

SUMMARY Hammond Group, Inc. (HGI) is a specialty chemical company that has been serving battery manufacturers for over 90 years. Our production facilities are in Hammond, IN; Pottstown, PA; Gateshead, England; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Hammond, IN team. Candidates should be eager to embrace new challenges and explore growth opportunities within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts. Determines changes in the requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments. Maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies by checking stock and placing orders. Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays) Experience with electrical systems (installation, variable frequency drive)
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of experience with machine maintenance or related fields 1 year welding experience preferred 2 years of electrical experience Basic pipefitting Ability to work with hand tools and meters on machines Ability to read maintenance literature in English Ability to work in a physical environment Team-oriented, able to multitask and prioritize scheduled and unscheduled activities Experience with boilers a plus Ability to operate machinery and technical equipment In-depth knowledge of system maintenance Ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently Familiarity with safety standards and regulations Skilled in analyzing information and creating reports Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, & background check Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma required, technical school education preferred. 5 years' experience working as a maintenance technician in the chemical industry preferred. Welding Certifications a plus Electrical experience in an industrial manufacturing setting is a plus PLC experience is a plus

From $26.39 per hour
