Job Description

Floor Care Specialist Job descriptions A Floor Care Specialist is required to buff, strip, and wax hard floors. They will clean carpets using either an extractor or bonnet pad, and they will know how to treat stains, especially coffee, mud and grease. They must be able to walk, stand, twist, bend, stand and lift up to 60 pounds. This job requires great attention to detail. A Floor Care Specialist job duties include: Maintaining a floor care routine Strip, wax and buff floors Clean carpets Clean windows or walls Clean all equipment after use Maintain equipment Other duties as assigned Janitor/Floor Tech is responsible for but not limited to the following: 1. Follow the cleaning schedule as outlined for the assigned area, using established housekeeping procedures. 2. Use housekeeping equipment such as mops, buffers, automatic scrubbers, squeegees and vacuums required for the maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture. 3. Dry mop, wet mop, all floors in your assigned area daily. Disinfect, wax, and buff floors where and when necessary. Corners and underneath beds and furniture shall be given special attention 4. Perform emergency housekeeping where accidents occur. 5. Empty, clean and reline waste receptacles. Straighten or rearrange furniture as directed. Inspect equipment for wear and defects and report to the Supervisor. 6.May do some exterior work such as cleaning sidewalks and driveways, removing litter, cleaning windows, pressure washing and sweeping entrances 7. Vacuum and shampoo carpeting and rugs when requested. 8. Strip, scrub and re-wax floors when requested by your Supervisor. 9. Help in building security by checking for unlocked doors and unauthorized occupants. 10. Cleaning equipment, utensils and electric cords shall be kept out of the path of travel. Disconnect electrical equipment whenever it is unattended. Wet areas shall be closed off to traffic until thoroughly dry. 11.. Exercise extreme care to avoid conditions that could cause accidental injury to anyone in your work area immediately. 12. Wash windows and clean screens, take out trash and empty trash receptacles. 13. Move and put away heavy tables, chairs and any heavy equipment and help set up the auditorium when special events are coming up. 14. Be available for night work for the areas of the commercial building that can't be cleaned during the day. 15. Keep janitor closets and equipment clean and in good order; economical use of supplies. Keep poisonous compounds locked. Report supply and equipment needs to the Supervisor. Keep the hose in the janitor sink tied up at all times. 16. Attend all in-service classes and meetings. 17. Perform and assist in other tasks as assigned. 18. Clean uniform must be worn when on duty. Observe basic rules of personal cleanliness and hygiene. Do not report for duty when you have an infectious illness. 2 years experience preferred but not required
