Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping ensure that all agency buildings and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and operating in accordance with state regulations and agency standards. This role supports daily maintenance needs, preventative maintenance, emergency response, and seasonal grounds care across the Main Building and Academy. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that supports individuals with complex needs. They must also demonstrate strong attention to detail and be able to work both independently and as an effective member of a team.Key Responsibilities:
Facility & Equipment Maintenance Complete assigned repairs and maintenance work orders as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor Assist with repair, upkeep, and safe operation of tools, equipment, and machinery Support maintenance of boilers, heaters, water systems, and building systems Assist with preventative maintenance planning and completion Assist with carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, keylock/electronic security devices, and general repairs Help maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance work areas Respond to maintenance needs in other departments as required Grounds & Seasonal Maintenance Maintain roadways, walkways, and parking areas Perform snow removal and ice control during winter months Assist with lawn care, landscaping, and outdoor upkeep Help ensure grounds remain safe, clean and hazard-free Safety, Compliance & Communication Follow OSHA and agency safety policies at all times Help ensure facilities meet state and agency standards Report safety concerns, needed repairs, and incidents promptly Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct Participate in on-call rotation for emergency situations as scheduled Maintain valid driver's license and safe driving record to operate agency vehicles Team Participation & Professional Conduct Attend meetings and trainings as assigned Communicate effectively with team members and leadership Support a positive, team-focused work environment Follow agency policies, procedures, and documentation requirements Demonstrate reliability, integrity, and respect in all interactions Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participation in an on-call rotation each month, as assigned Holiday shifts required as part of the rotation and/or on-call status Flexibility is required to meet the evolving needs and emergencies of the program and organization Comprehensive Employee Benefits Package At T.C. Minimum one year of maintenance experience (required) Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, painting, floor care/cleaning, boiler or heating systems, and snow removal/grounds maintenance.Required Skills & Attributes:
Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergency and stressful situations. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability Ability to work independently and as part of a teamAdditional Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old . Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record. Ability to implement approved physical intervention techniques when necessary.
