Job Description The regular work schedule consists of Tuesday-Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Work schedules may be adjusted as needed to meet the operational needs of the library. Newton County Public Library is seeking a dependable, hands-on Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining the library buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities across our three locations, Lake Village, Morocco & Roselawn. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and can work independently while providing excellent service to our staff and library patrons. What You'll Do Perform routine and preventive maintenance on library buildings, equipment, and grounds. Maintain interior and exterior areas of the library, including basic repairs and upkeep. Maintain landscaping, clear snow from sidewalks, and other seasonal grounds maintenance. Monitor and maintain HVAC systems and other building equipment. Troubleshoot maintenance issues and coordinate repairs when specialized services are needed. Apply approved pest-control products and chemicals in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable safety requirements. Perform emergency and time-sensitive maintenance as needed. Assist with moving furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies. Deliver library materials and supplies between library locations as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and patrons. Complete other building and grounds duties as assigned. We're Looking For Someone Who Has experience with general building, grounds, or facility maintenance. Is comfortable using hand and power tools. Has basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Can perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Is dependable, organized, and able to work independently. Pays attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe facility. Can communicate professionally with library staff, vendors, and the public. Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Previous maintenance, construction, landscaping, HVAC, or facilities experience is preferred. Why Work With Us?
